Welcome back after a four day break! I hope everyone was able to relax and spend quality time with these kids I ADORE! I have heard success stories and struggles with this years youth hunt. Regardless of actually getting a deer or not, congrats to all our young hunters.
Today in math we started talking about interpreting our remainders. The remainder is written out as a fraction over the divisor in a division problem. Interpreting the remainder means we need to decide what to do with our extras. There are three options: forget about it, round the number up, or turn it into money.
We would forget about it if it's something like: Three people were sharing ten pencils how many EQUAL amounts of pencils would he student get? Each would get three pencils and we would forget about the one left over.
We would round up if it was: There are 31 students going on a field trip, each chaperone would need 4 students. How many chaperones would we need? The answer would be 7 and 3/4; however, we can forget about the 3 kids so we would actually bring 8 chaperones.
Turn it money if: We are talking about money and we can make change out of a problem!
Today will be my last blog as your child will have a blog today as well! We have taped the link to their blog in the front of their planners! Please get in the habit of checking their website! There are some exciting bloggers ready to go!
